Blagdon Pond Paint Overview

Blagdon Acrylic pond paint is ideal for sealing new ponds. Avaliable in 3 colours and three sizes, Pond Paint is easy and quick to apply and gives excellent value for money.
Blagdon Pond Paint is formulated for new concrete in and around the pond. (Pond paint will not adhere properly to damp, or unclean concrete)

Preparation-
Concrete must be fully cured and dried. This normally takes at least two weeks but may take longer depending on climate and render mix.
Any loose concrete should be removed and the surface should be brushed clean before applying the paint.

Application.
Stir thoroughly before use. Thin the first coat of paint with 10% water. This should be allowed to dry for 2-3 hours. 2 further coats at full strength can then be applied at 2-3 hour intervals. Pond Paint will not dry properly in humid environments extra drying time may be needed. If applying the paint to concrete that contains, or has been sealed with a waterproofer or hardener, it is advisable to test a small area first with the paint to ensure that adhesion is not adversely affected.

Coverage
Coverage depends on the porosity of the concrete and the thickness of each coat of paint. Avoid applying the paint to thickly.
Average coverage per coat varied from 4m2 to 6m2 per Litre.

Drying time
Pond Paint is usually touch dry in 30-40 minutes and will be firm dry in 2-3 hours. Do not apply in wet or humid conditions. Protect from rain for at least 7 days after application, but ensure the pond is well ventilated. After 7 days the pond can be filled with water.

Average coverage per coat varied from 4m2 to 6m2 per Litre.

Blagdon overview

Established for over 40 years…

Blagdon started life as a family retail enterprise in the back garden of enthusiast Mike Chivers in the 1960s. Building on its success, it developed into the manufacturing company ‘Better Water Garden Products’, which was combined with several specialist aquatic retail sites around the country. Eventually, the company was renamed Blagdon after the Somerset village where the business first started. The retail and manufacturing businesses separated in the 1990s, and the manufacturing brand was acquired by UK pet and aquatic company Interpet in late 1999.

Subsequent years have seen growth and innovation change in the product portfolio with continued development in British designed water garden products. In April 2004, Interpet was itself acquired by Central Garden & Pet whose investment has further increased the ability of Blagdon to bring quality water garden products to global water garden consumers. Blagdon can now boast its commitment to innovation and quality with the largest research and development test area of any UK manufacturer, all based at its new purpose built premises in Bridgwater, Somerset, England.

Blagdon is synonymous with the very best in English water gardening and we look forward to a bright future developing ever more innovative products to make water gardening easy.
